Approximately 48 million Americans experience hearing loss<\/a>, but many are either unaware of their condition or in denial. Many of these individuals are still working or looking for jobs, but despite the Americans With Disabilities Act, which prohibits employers from discriminating against people with disabilities, hearing loss can – and does – affect your career.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0hearing loss study<\/a>\u00a0published in Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology in 2013 found that workers with hearing loss earned almost 25 percent less than their normal-hearing peers. The truth is, even a minor hearing loss can give others the impression that you are less competent and could lead your employer to pass you over for a promotion. Enforcing the law is difficult at best.<\/p>\n

According to a 2014\u00a0hearing loss survey of 1,500 full-time workers<\/a>,\u00a0the biggest challenges they face include:<\/p>\n
